Professional Triathlete - Published Author - Coach - Speaker - Race Director - Cancer Survivor

Published Author and Writer

As I learned more about how to train and race effectively for races, I was inspired to share my experiences and general training advice with other people both inside and outside of the endurance sports world. Whether I'm describing a triathlon experience to a general audience or giving training tips with fellow athletes, I've found writing to be a great way to share my thoughts and emotions with others about what I love to do.

In 2003, I began submitting race reports to www.xtri.com then contributed to a book titled 50 Great U.S. Marathons and began to blog about my life as an athlete. In 2006 I published my own book about how endurance sports have affected and enhanced my entire life, as I transitioned from cancer survivor to triathlon champion. More recently, I have authored five eBooks on endurance sports training and racing. Currently, I write a regular column for TRI-DC, a print magazine for multi-sport athletes in the mid-Atlantic region.

Recently, I have expanded my interests beyond triathlon to other adventure sports and endurance events - for example, in May 2008, I spent a week training with the Special Operations Force Academy in Virginia Beach an iin July I spent a week backpacking in the Swiss Alps. Both experiences taught me an enormous amount about myself - both emotionally and physically. In the future, I am looking forward to finding new challenges that I can experience, write about and share with others.

My Book

In my book Full Time & Sub-Nine, I share the story of my athletic career, my battle with cancer and the winning strategies I used to earn my four overall wins at the Iron-distance and dozens of top ten finishes in triathlons of all distances.

Whether you're training to win, training to finish, or just looking for an inspirational story, I hope that my book will help you train better and smarter while enjoying all of the challenges in your life. For me, triathlons help me better my life and my life helps me better my triathlons. It's my hope that Full Time & Sub-Nine helps others find similar balance and inspiration in their own lives - with endurance sports or with any other passion you might have.

"Full Time & Sub-Nine is informative, inspirational and enjoyable...Glover doesn't lecture, he shares. Highly recommended for the triathlete who has to balance high demands and expectations with a full and responsible life."
- Jef Mallett, Triathlete, Creator of "Frazz" comic strip

"An inspirational hero...Beating cancer and succeeding at Iron distance triathlon are incomprehensible to most, but Glover gives them down-to-earth details we can all start to understand."
- Jedd Ferris, Senior Editor, Blue Ridge Outdoors

"David Glover is an amazing writer. His writing is sophisticated, interesting, and meaningful. He has the unique ability to evoke emotion or to tell a story with only a few carefully chosen words and phrases. His words can transport you to another location, or make you feel that he is writing specifically about you!"
- Shannon Hicok, Publisher, Tri-DC magazine

My eBooks

Drawing on more than a dozen years of competitive endurance sports training and racing including 24 Ironman-distance triathlons (8:51 PR), I wrote the Triathlon in a Box series of eBooks as a practical, inexpensive "no fluff" training resource.

My Blog

Aside from books and magazine articles, I keep a blog where I write about the more personal side of my training and adventures. This is where you can read about my training on a day-to-day basis, follow me on trips to my races, and watch as I continue to learn important lessons about triathlons, coaching, event management, and life in general.
